The Blue Surf Quartet was formed out of a shared love of Surf Instrumental music. We care deeply about
the roots and evolution of a musical genre that was born in California in the late '50s and early '60s
and for decade after decade has refused to succumb to the ravages of Pop culture. Our music reflects
the many facets of Surf Instro from the early twang-and-reverb style of the Bel Airs and The Surfaris
to the harder-edged tones characteristic of groups like The Galaxy Trio. Because Surf carries
its message in the music rather than in words, it invites the listener to create their own imagined
landscapes and narratives. We give you now a gift of those parts of our musical journey that we committed to
tape during our basement sessions in 2001 and 2002.
